1. 16 days of walking, 2 days of assisted transport and 1 day of rest.
2. 220 miles of walking and 55 miles of trail skipped.
3. Pilgrims encountered include 6 Frenchmen, 4 Frenchwomen, a Belgian man, a Canadian man, 2 German women, an American couple and 1 man from Andorra (!).
4. 2 days in a remote area without seeing another living soul from village of departure to village of arrival.
5. After Toulouse our direction changes from a westerly progression to directly south as we approach the Pyrenees, which we hope to summit on May 19, crossing into Spain.
6. 40 miles hoofed along canals. A tip of the hat to French creator Pierre-Paul Riquet for designing this remarkable feat of modern engineering and such a beautifully flat, easy, shady and tranquil walking path.
