Bienvenue Pilgrim!

Well, we've done it. All the hard work of taking pictures and writing clever anecdotes has paid off. What have we done? No, the blog hasn't been picked up by a major magazine. No, not one TV station has offered us our own mother/daughter Gypsy Chronicles travel show. And, no, Rick Steves hasn't called me up to gush over our superb travelog. It's even better than that.

Mom and I have successfully roped in a new Pilgrim to join our Gypsy caravan.

Sactown Rick, looking forward to seeing you in Puente la Reina, Spain with your clean, pill-free clothes, shiny new backpack, thick soled boots, untarnished skin, positive attitude and eager grin.

...Sucker!

We didn't take too many pics today on our hike from Castres to Dourgne. Mainly because we were in denial that our day off had come and gone as fast as Chevre on a cheese plate and that we were actually putting one foot in front of the other again. The river valley scenery was beautiful, though. I shot a video of the wind creating ripples of waves through the velvety green fields of wheat, but alas, it won't transfer properly to my iPad. Here's what we were able to capture...

Leaving our hotel home.

This pic can barely do it justice, but you can see some of the patterns the breeze paints in the wheat.

A baby pram on a rooftop. The mind reels.

I think this one of Monsieur Donkey deserves a caption contest. Send them our way, and we'll pick the best in a future blog. Heck, send us captions for the baby pram too!

La Montagne Noir - The Black Mountain looming over Dourgne. After hiking 13 miles, I was ecstatic to see the town was below it and not atop.

  1. Monsieur Donkey says: "Who is the real jackass here, the mammal in front of the camera, or the mammal behind the camera?"
